UT Health Carthage Auxiliary works to establish scholarship at Panola College

The UT Health Carthage Auxiliary presented the Panola College Foundation with a check for $7,249.75 toward the establishment of an endowed scholarship at Panola College. The group, made up of all community volunteers, has been a generous supporter of Panola College and the community for more than 30 years. Each year the group awards numerous scholarships to deserving Panola College nursing students through funds they raise during their bi-annual jewelry sale at UT Health Carthage.

Due to the changes Covid-19 has brought to the healthcare industry this past year, the UT Health Carthage Auxiliary has been unable to hold their bi-annual fundraiser and has decided to put their remaining funds toward establishing a Panola College endowed scholarship. The endowed scholarship will be an addition to the group’s legacy of awarding scholarships to Panola College students, particularly those in nursing.

“For over three decades, UT Health Auxiliary has remained a constant supporter of the nursing program at Panola College, providing the gift of scholarships to our nursing students,” said Annissa Jackson, Chair of Nursing at Panola College. “We are grateful for their generosity and investment in our students and are thrilled that through the establishment of this nursing scholarship, the legacy of their support will continue for years to come.”

The UT Health Carthage Auxiliary still needs to raise $2,750 in donations to fully endow the scholarship and hopes that previous recipients of its scholarships, as well as community members, will help contribute to make the scholarship a reality.

Those who wish to donate in support of the UT Health Carthage Auxiliary endowed scholarship may do so online at www.panola.edu/panola-foundation, by calling 903-693-2029, or by mailing a check to Institutional Advancement, 1109 W. Panola, Carthage, Texas 75633.
