On Thursday, April 22, 2021, the Shelbyville High School Dragon Band Competed in the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in Bullard. The band received 1^st Divisions (Superior) in each portion of the contest. Judge Brandon Brewer of Princeton High School wrote that “this an outstanding band”.

When combined with the bands 1st Division ratings at UIL Marching Contest in November, the Band is awarded the Sweepstakes Award by UIL. The band was a finalist at the UIL State Military Marching Contest in December.
