Tax Time is Here!

Shelby County residents have until the end of January to pay property taxes or to set up a payment plan. According to Tax Assessor Collector Pam Shoffer, property taxes can be paid in person at her office or be sent in the mail. If you are planning to pay in person, payments can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Those residents paying with a credit card will incur an additional 2.5% charge. Payments that are mailed in must be postmarked before February 1st in order to avoid penalties. The Shelby County Commissioners’ Court approved last week to publish the names of property owners with delinquent taxes that remain unpaid. Shelby County will be publishing the names and dollar amounts owed by those with delinquent taxes. Payments are to be made to the Shelby County Tax Assessor Collector by February 22 or names and amounts owed will be printed in the newspaper. Ms. Shoplifter’s office is open 8:00 am - 4:30 p.m Monday - Friday. For more information or questions, you can call the tax office at 936-598-4441.
