1st Annual Electronics Recycling Day

The City of Center is announcing the first annual Electronics Recycling Day to be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Historic Downtown Square. People can bring old electronics devices and dispose of them for free. Also at this time, the Shelby Beautiful Clean Committee of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Shred Day” where you can bring any documents or paper to be destroyed. The City partnered with STS Recycling in Jacksonville, who will collect all electronic devices and recycle them properly. People can bring old computers, monitors, keyboards, phones, cell phones, televisions at no charge. Any hard drives will be cleaned to Department of Defense standards and owners may receive a certificate of completion. According to City manager Chad Nehring, “The City operates a ‘single-stream’ recycling program, which means people do not have to sort recyclable materials. This makes it very easy for a consumer to participate in the recycling program,” For more information, you can call the City of Center at 598-2941.
