US 59 North, just south of Garrison, is currently closed due to a crash and resulting HazMat spill. Emergency crews are on the scene. TxDOT crews are currently setting up a detour at US 259 in Nacogdoches and US 84 in Timpson. Motorists should prepare for lengthy delays as this scene clears. Reduce speed and stay alert for the detour and all traffic control in the area.

Highway 59 just south of Garrison is shut down due to a chemical spill. A  truck traveling thru the area spilled a chemical. We are in the process of still confirming what this chemical is. We due believe that this can pose a threat to area residents.  We have started evacuating residents a half mile in each direction from the spill site. Garrison school is in lockdown as a precaution. Nacogdoches fire departments and our VFD’s are on scene. Hazmat is en route to the location.  Please stay away from this area.
