Nacogdoches Man Flees on Stolen ATV

A Nacogdoches man was arrested on Monday for several felony charges after running from deputies on a stolen ATV machine. A deputy was on patrol on Cr. 525 around 6:30 pm Monday when the deputy observed an ATV machine driving at a high rate of speed on the county road. The ATV nearly lost control when meeting the deputy and continued to travel east bound on Cr. 525. The deputy attempted to stop the side by side machine but it continued to travel for over a mile on Cr. 525. The driver then turned around on Cr. 525 and preceded West bound for about two miles before wrecking out in a curve.

The driver, Jervoski Pruitt was arrested at the scene. There were also two small children inside the ATV that were 10 and 9 years of age. Both children were shaken up, but were unharmed. EMS responded to the scene and both children were checked on.

The deputy became suspicious that the ATV was possibly stolen after Pruitt told the deputy he did not know who it belonged to and that he had found the machine. NCSO deputies contacted a local ATV dealer in Nacogdoches who checked their inventory and observed the ATV machine belonged to them. The side by side was apparently stolen on Saturday night from the dealership, but the theft had not yet been recognized.

Pruitt was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail for Evading arrest or detention, two counts of endangering a child and Theft. All charges were classified as a State Jail felony.  Bond was set at 100,000 dollars on all charges. Pruitt remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail.
