The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Poll will be updated next month, but the HoopInsider Boys’ Poll, focusing primarily on east Texas teams, has the San Augustine Wolves at No. 2, the Broaddus Bulldogs at No. 6 and the Tenaha Tigers ranked No. 8 in the Class 1A, Div. I poll, while Grapeland is No. 1.

 

Several of our area high school basketball teams are playing in tournaments this week. The Center Roughriders are among 16 teams taking part in the Woodville Eagles Holiday Classic. The Riders will open play at 11:10 Thursday morning against Evadale at the Woodville Middle School Gym. Center’s second-round game will be at 12:30 Friday against Splendora or Buna.

 

We’ve been telling you about the big fourth annual Tenaha Holiday Hoops Tournament Thursday thru Saturday, with some 60 games on tap in Tenaha, Joaquin, Gary and Panola College. Some of the top boys’ and girls’ teams in Texas will be playing. The boys’ portion of the tournament begins at 9:00 a.m Thursday morning with the girls’ schedule also starting at 9:00 a.m at the Tenaha Special Events Center.
