Two-Vehicle Wreck Outside of Center - Corrected

 

 

Two-vehicle wreck on HWY 96 outside of Center headed towards Tenaha near Center Country Club be prepared for traffic delays as the scene is cleared. No fatalities reported according to Center Fire Department more to follow.

 

 

Update: 

 

SHELBY COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recieved a report of a two-vehicle crash this afternoon 10-2-19 on US 96, about five miles north of Center, Texas near the Center Country Club. The Center Fire Department, Texas DPS, multiple Shelby County Constables, and Allegiance Mobile Health all responded to the scene of the accident.

Ford Pickup Truck after the wreck

 

 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 2013 Ford pickup was traveling north and slowing down to make a left turn when it was struck from behind by a 2013 Kia. The driver of the Ford is identified as 83-year-old Aaron Boles from Center. Boles was not injured during the crash.

The driver of the Kia is identified as 62-year-old Jean Stokes from Tenaha. Stokes and a child passenger were also not injured during the crash.

 

 

 

Shelby County Constable

 

 

Emergency crews performed traffic control until the scene could be cleared by wrecker services Sandhill Wrecker Service and East Texas Towing both responded to tow away the wrecked vehicles. The scene was cleared and traffic later resumed its normal flow.
