Educator Community Day welcomes teachers

Leadership Shelby County of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce recently hosted Educator Community Day for 13 Center High School teachers. They visited various businesses, government offices and agencies to receive an update on Shelby County. This was an opportunity for faculty members to actively see the job skills that are needed in various industries and how the job related to their academic curriculum in the classroom. Presenters included: Charles Grisby with Workforce Solutions; Ortega Cartwright of Hallmark Center Fixtures; David Haley of Brookshire Brothers; Ty Price, Complex Manager and the Tyson Foods team; Dave Warman V-P of TPF Gas Services; Mayor David Chadwick of Farmers State Bank; Thomas Morrison of Port-A-Cool; City Manager, Chad Nehring; and Tommy Hughes, Director of the Windham Civic Center. Center ISD faculty participants included Erin McMichael, Karlie McQueen, Bradley Lawrence, K. Camara, Josh Stewart, David Sheppard, Cody Shanks, Christy Littleton, Emily Siron, Jason Perry, Donna Shannon, Emily Smith, Mary Grigsby and Tim Norman. Leadership Shelby County Educators Day is a one day workshop presented by the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. This program is designed to enhance and educate teachers on the diversity of Shelby County and develop an understanding of the workplace and business.
