A Logansport man and a Joaquin woman lost their lives as the result of a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning near Joaquin. According to DPS Trooper Keith Jones, 39-year old Lloyd Jason Ramsey was entering Farm-to-Market Road 139 from County Road 3193 in a Ford F-150 pickup, when he pulled into the path of a Mack dump truck, driven by Billy Gene Mason. The dump truck, owned by Shelby County, struck the pickup, overturning it in a ditch, with the dump truck overturning onto the pickup. The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to assist Ace EMS in freeing Ramsey, and a passenger, 20-year old Lauren Michelle Weaver from the wreckage. Ramsey was pronounced dead at the scene by J-P Pct. 3 Margie Anderson. Weaver was life flighted to LSU Health Center in Shreveport, where she later died. Mason was transported to Shelby Regional by private vehicle for observation.
