On September 4, 2019, at around 2 p.m. there was a report of a house fire received by the Center Fire Department. Fortunately, upon arrival at the home on Brooks Street, it was revealed to be a stove fire that had already been extinguished.

Swepco was called to disconnect the meter so an electrical inspection could be done.
