On September 4th, 2019 at 10 a.m. the local VFW Post 8904 and the Auxillary held a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of VJ (Victory Over Japan) Day. 

 

The event was held in Center, Texas on the downtown Center city square at the historic Shelby County Courthouse. 

 

The event was lead by the VFW Post Quartermaster Larry Hume and after he delivered his opening speech, those attending the event took turns at the podium reading the names of people from Shelby County who served in the Pacific war. 

 

 

 

 

Taps was played by a post member and the ceremony came to a close. The group as is now a custom had their picture taken by the local media.
