13th Annual Jasper Air Show takes off on Sat, Sep 21st & Sun, Sep 22nd

JASPER, TX - The 13th Annual Jasper Air Show & Fly-In will be held on Saturday, September 21st and Sunday, September 22nd at the Jasper County Bell Field Airport, on Highway 190 West in Jasper, Texas.

Static display of aircraft and FREE airplane rides for children begins each morning at 9:00, and the air show begins at 12:00 noon on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Organizers say that this year’s air show could very well be called a “reunion”, or even an “all-star show”, because nearly all of the pilots and planes have been in the Jasper event at least once in the past, and all of them have proven to be fan favorites.

Returning to this year’s air show is aerobatic pilot Jason Newburg in his Pitts Viper Special. Jason left Jasper air show fans craving more a few years ago when he brought a stunt-motorcycle group with him, and they thrilled the crowd both in the air and on the ground – at the same time. Jason is bringing the motorcyclists with him again, this year led by Patrick Stephens.
Also in the aerobatic field is Greg Koontz, who will attempt to land a Decathlon on the back of a moving truck on the runway, and Patrick McAllee will defy all the laws of gravity in his Blue Demon S1-GT plane.

For many years, the Japanese Tora-Tora-Tora squadron has launched a sneak attack upon the Jasper Air Show, and word is they plan to do it again this year. However, some of our favorite pilots and vintage World War II warbirds will be back to defend the skies above Jasper.
The B-25 bomber known as “Devil Dog”, with Beth Jenkins at the controls, along with an F4-U Corsair and a P-51 Mustang will be ready to defend the air show.

Also returning this year is the amazing ReMax Skydiving Team headed up by Al Saylor, along with the fascinating RC planes from the Beaumont Remote Team.

Air show fans will have a huge selection of food, drinks, and souvenirs from numerous vendors along hangar row, and the children can enjoy giant slides and jump houses from Fun in the Sun Inflatables.

Also on hand will be LifeShare Blood Center’s mobile unit for those who would like to donate blood, along with the Southeast Texas Food Bank for those who would like to donate non-perishable food items.

A once-in-a-lifetime thrill for history buffs would be a ride in the B-25 bomber. The cost is $395 in advance, or $425 if you pay at the air show. You can reserve your flight in advance on the website www.devildogsquadron.com or call KJAS Radio in Jasper at 409-384-2626, or call air show director Debbie Foster at 409-489-8447.

Air show fans will also have the unique opportunity to embark on a helicopter ride for only $35.00 per person in a Bell 47, which were used during the Korean War and were made famous for their appearances in the TV show M*A*S*H. Operated by Sierra Aeronautics, the Bell 47 will fly on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the air show. For more information, visit www.sierra.aero
