2019-20 School Year Begins With Great Promise

We are very excited to be off and running with another great year for the students of TISD.  As our first week of school is winding down, over 500 students are settling into their routine.  I'm sure an awful lot of "sleep patterns" have been reset this week as well.  This year promises to be very exciting.  Our Tiger sports teams are set to be extremely competitive once again and the award-winning 'Roarin' Band from Tigerland already sounds better than ever.

We are also all very excited about the great news we received from the state regarding school accountability this summer.  Tenaha ISD improved to become what the state calls a "B- rated school district".  While many schools in our area also carry the "B rating" and many of them improved this past year, Tenaha improved the most.  No other school in the area increased their rating score by more than five or six points.  Tenaha improved ours by eleven!!! What's the cause?  Simple.  We've got amazing kids who give us an honest effort to learn.  But, more than that, we have the absolute best instructional staff in East Texas..... bar none.....Several schools in our area boast academic prowess, but this year TISD has the proof in the data to back it up.

Our culture here is awesome.  We keep it simple and light-hearted as much as possible.  But! We play and work to win.

We want to WIN EVERY DAY!!!!

Scott Tyner, Superintendent of Schools
