High school basketball results last night: Girls’ action: In the District 19-2A opener, Woden over the Garrison Lady Bulldogs, 56-13, Garrison will be at Groveton Friday; Chireno Lady Owls over Oakwood, 43-23 and Nacogdoches defeats Marshall, 68-44.

 

Boys’ results: Chireno beats Corrigan, 72-58, the Owls are 11-2, and go to Slocum Friday; the Martinsville Pirates beat Elysian Fields, 58-18. Martinsville has homecoming Friday playing Hemphill.

 

The Tenaha Tigers will be playing for their second trip to the state championship  as they take on Falls City in a Class A, Div. II state semi-final football at 7:30, Friday night in Cypress at the Berry Center, located off Hwy. 290, northwest of Houston. The winner plays for the state championship next week against the winner of the Munday/Wellington semi-final being played Friday night in Wichita Falls.

 

A chartered bus is making the trip to Cypress for Friday’s Tenaha/Falls City game. For $40, a ticket includes round trip for one person, plus a pizza/drink at Tiger Tailgate at the stadium. The bus will leave from Tiger Gym at 1:30 Friday for a non-stop trip, and will arrive at the stadium at approximately 5:15. The bus will return immediately following the game, also non-stop. To purchase a seat on the charter bus, see Stella Baker in the High School Office. Your seat is reserved when payment is received. Only 56 seats are available. Game tickets are NOT included in the travel package. Prices are $8.00/$5.00 at the gate.
