Lower Speed Limit Approved on SH 7 in Nacogdoches County

LUFKIN – The speed limit on SH 7 in Nacogdoches County is being lowered after a recent speed study indicated the need for change that will enhance the safety of the roadway and the traveling public.

The speed limit will be reduced from 70 mph and 75 mph to 65 mph from the Nacogdoches City Limits for 2.997 miles. From that point to the Angelina County line, the speed limit will be reduced from 75 mph to 70 mph.

TxDOT has conducted the engineering and traffic investigations to determine reasonable and safe maximum speed limits for these segments of SH 7. The lower speed limits will be enforceable once signs are placed.

As these changes take effect, motorists should remain alert and obey all traffic control devices and speed limits. For more information, contact Rhonda.Oaks@txdot.gov or (936) 633-4395.
