A tragic accident has taken the life of an Angelina County man last night on highway 59 south ( in the 5400 block). The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Bernard Charles Kifer III, 32 years of age from Zavalla, Texas.

 

Nacogdoches County Combined dispatch received several calls on 5-8-19 shortly before 10:00 pm that there was a male subject that was darting in and out of the roadway on Highway 59 south. Several callers advise that they had nearly run over the man. Patrol units were dispatched to the scene, however before they arrived the victim was struck by two different vehicles.

 

Deputies arrived on the scene just moments after and started conducting CPR on the victim. The victim was transported to the Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

 

An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 David Perkins.  An investigation is being conducted by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office.
