The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office has released more information on the arrest Monday of a former Logansport High School teacher for having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year old female student. 34-year old Marcus McCann of Joaquin was charged with prohibited sexual contact between teacher and student. According to Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Davidson, the student was an adult, but she’s a student. McCann used to teach math and coach the girls’ basketball team, and detectives say they found almost 17,000 text messages, many sexual, between the two, and some during school hours. Logansport school officials say the behavior was unacceptable. The charge against McCann was a misdemeanor, not a felony due to the student’s age. The case has been handed over to the district attorney's office. McCann is out of jail after making bond Monday.
