Crash Involving Lufkin Police Officer

 


LUFKIN – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating on the afternoon of 5-4-19 a motor vehicle crash involving a Lufkin Police Officer that occurred on Business US 59.

 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 12:40 p.m., a Lufkin Police Officer was out of his marked patrol unit (with emergency lights activated) investigating a crash in the parking lot of a local business when a northbound 2006 Toyota SUV, for unknown reasons, drove off the roadway to the left and struck the rear of the police vehicle. The collision caused the police vehicle to strike the officer.

 

The officer is identified as 28-year-old Seth Thompson from Lufkin. Officer Thompson was transported to UT Tyler by medical helicopter for treatment.

 

The driver of the Toyota is identified as 40-year-old Nakishia Samuels from Lufkin. Samuels was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.
