Nominations Sought for DETCOG Minority Board Member

 

 

Nominations are now being accepted for the Shelby County Minority Representative to serve on the Board of Directors of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG). Each of the 12 counties in the DETCOG region has a Minority Board Member. The position for Shelby County is currently vacant.

 

In order to serve, a person must be a member of a racial or ethnic minority group, must be age 18 or older and must have been a resident of Shelby County for at least six consecutive months. The person must also be willing and able to attend monthly out-of-town meetings.

 

This is a volunteer position with no pay and no expenses paid. Interested persons must complete and submit the official Nomination Form to DETCOG no later than May 15, 2019 The Nomination Form is available from the Shelby County Judge's Office.   If more than one qualified person successfully completes the nomination process, an election will be scheduled and announced. Residents of Shelby County age 18 or older who are members of a racial or ethnic minority group may participate in the election.
