TxDOT Update

 

 

LUFKIN – With spring right around the corner, Lufkin District construction projects and work schedules are continuing as weather allows.

 

Motorists are urged to stay alert as they travel through the many work zones in the nine-county Lufkin District. Always reduce speed and watch and obey any traffic control in the area. Prepare for delays and be patient if there are lane closures through work zones.

 

Work scheduled for the week of Feb. 25 – March 1 includes:

 

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY

SH 21: Crews are scheduled to install headwalls and install mow strips on this project to upgrade guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects from SH 7 to the San Augustine County line and in Sabine County from the San Augustine County line to FM 3448. Motorists should expect possible intermittent lane closures.

 

FM 95: Crews are setting compost at this bridge replacement project at Terrapin Creek. Lane closures expected.

 

FM 1638: Crews will continue to monitor vegetative establishment and place mailboxes and signs on this project designed to upgrade guardrail to design standards, safety treat fixed objects and provide additional pavement width from FM 698 to US 59/SL 224.

 

FM 2609: Crews continue to relocate utilities at this project to widen the roadway from Raguet Street to North Street (BU 59).

 

SHELBY COUNTY

SH 87: Crews are monitoring vegetative establishment in this project designed to upgrade guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects from SH 7 to SH 147.

 

FM 414: Crews are scheduled to level up the roadway in various locations. Lane closures expected.

 

CR 4789: Crews are monitoring vegetative establishment at the bridge replacement projects at the tributary of Blackwater Creek and at Risinger Creek on CR 4620.

 

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY

FM 1196: Crews are scheduled to repair road base and level up the roadway. Expect lane closures.

 

SABINE COUNTY

Various locations: Crews are working to level up the roadway. Lane closures expected.

 

POLK COUNTY

FM 350 North: Crews are working on culvert headwalls on this project designed to improve guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects.

 

FM 3126: Work is scheduled to repair potholes and level up the roadway in various locations. Expect lane closures.

 

FM 1745: Crews are scheduled to level the roadway in various locations.

 

SAN JACINTO COUNTY

US 59: Crews are scheduled to sweep bridges in various locations. Lane closures expected.

 

SH 150: Crews are scheduled to continue work on driveway culverts on this project designed to reconstruct the pavement and add passing lanes from the Walker County line to FM 945 North.

 

FM 224: Crews are working to improve bridge rail on this project designed to upgrade guardrail to design standards from SH 156 North to SH 156 South.

 

FM 3460: Work is scheduled to cut high edges in various locations.

 

FM 3081: Crews will work to cut high edges in various locations.

Various locations: Crews will work on drainage issues and repair washouts. Work is also planned to repair signs, mailboxes and delineators.

 

ANGELINA COUNTY

US 59 South: Crews continue to place the overlay at crossovers, driveways and intersections on this project designed to resurface the roadway from Whitehouse Drive to FM 2497 near Diboll. Motorists should expect delays, night and daytime work as weather allows and daily lane closures.

 

US 69 South: Work will continue from FM 844 to FM 1270 as crews install drainage structures and excavate and place embankment for future northbound lanes. Drill shafts and columns are also being constructed at the site of the future overpass at SH 63. This project is designed to widen the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided highway. Motorists should stay alert for flaggers and expect intermittent delays in some areas.

 

US 69 North: Work to upgrade metal beam guard rail to design standard will continue from SL 287 to the Cherokee County line. Lane closures expected.

 

US 69 North: Crews are scheduled to conduct mill and inlay operations in various locations on Friday. Lane closures expected.

 

SH 147: Barricades have been set and work is planned to begin installing safety end treatments at driveways and improve guardrail to design standards from just north of FM 3123 to FM 2109.

SH 103 East: Work is scheduled to mill and inlay the roadway in various locations. Lane closures expected.

 

FM 324:  Crews are scheduled to continue installing safety end treatments on driveways and cross drainage structures on this project to improve guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects from just south of SH 94 to US 59.

 

FM 1194: Crews will work to cut high edges in various locations. Expect lane closures.

 

FM 325/Lufkin Avenue: Crews are scheduled to continue concrete work and work on connecting driveways from SL 287 and moving west toward Timberland Drive on this project designed to install sidewalks and intersection ramps.

 

HOUSTON COUNTY

SH 19: Crews are scheduled to continue installing safety end treatments at driveways and improving guardrail to design standards from 1.6 miles north of FM 231 to the Trinity County line.

 

SH 21: Crews are working to clear trees and vegetation and begin building culvert extensions on this project designed to reconstruct and add passing lanes from the east end of the Trinity River Bridge to FM 1280. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures.

 

SH 21: Crews are scheduled to lay a hot mix asphalt surface on this project designed to reconstruct pavement and add passing lanes from 2.3 miles east of FM 2967 to SH 7. Lane closures should be expected.

 

FM 227: Work is scheduled to extend crossroad culverts on this project designed to safety treat fixed objects from SH 21 to SH 7.

 

FM 2781: Barricades have been set and work is beginning on this project to reconstruct and widen existing pavement from FM 1280 to US 287.

 

FM 227: Edge repairs are scheduled in various locations from FM 2022 to Grapeland.

Various locations: Work is scheduled to clean ditches, repair signs, cut high edges and repair washouts.

 

TRINITY COUNTY

FM 2262: Crews continue to work to upgrade metal beam guard fence throughout this project designed to reconstruct and widen pavement from FM 357 to SH 94.

 

FM 1280: Work is scheduled to do base repairs in various locations.
