On Feb. 19, 2019, a one-vehicle wreck occurred on HWY 96 between Tenaha and Center, Texas about 2 miles outside of Tenaha.

 

 

Mendez's Vehicle

 

 

At approximately 10:05 a.m. a white 2009 GMC Acadia SUV driven by 19-year-old Abigal Mendez was head north on HWY 96 when the vehicle hydroplaned, slid off the road and went through a fence. Mendez was not injured during the crash according to a DPS trooper.

The Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department, Tenaha Police Department, DPS Troopers, and Joey Ross Towing all responded to the scene.

The vehicle was pulled out of the ditch by Joey Ross Towing and was still in working condition. Mendez was issued, a ticket for unsafe speed.
