Center Police Chief Issues Statement

Center, TX - On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Center Police Chief, Jim Albers, issued the following statement in regard to a news story published on KTRE-TV's website.

 

"In reference to the KTRE article titled “Affidavit: Shelby County Jail trusty gave underage girl meth, sexually assaulted her,” a search warrant was NOT served on the Center Police Department. A search warrant was issued and then executed on two(2) digital devices that were recovered during the CPD’s initial investigation. The issuance of this search warrant was necessary for law enforcement officials to lawfully extract evidentiary data from these devices.

 

It is important to note that the CPD has been working with the Texas Ranger’s Office for the entirety of this investigation which was at the request of the Center Police Department. No CPD personnel are being investigated. Finally this investigation has been turned over in its entirety to the Texas

 

Rangers, so any further information requests should be directed to them."
