Jamie Hagler gunning for Constable position

After it was determined recently that Shelby County Pct. 2 Constable Shad Sparks had violated the Texas Election Code by voting out of party in the May primary election, thus dis-qualifying himself from the November General Election, a write-in candidate for the constable’s office is just a few weeks away from “officially” taking over the job.  Jamie Hagler tells Center Broadcasting he made the decision to become a write-in after it was discovered Sparks was eliminated from re-election. Hagler and Sparks had run against one another in the Democratic Party primary six years ago, as Sparks won the election and has been in office since.  Sparks was running un-opposed in the November General Election. Hagler tells us he believes Sparks has done a good job serving the citizens of Pct. 2, and with a win on November 6, says he looks forward to carrying that job forward, by continuing to work to provide quality law enforcement to the residents. Hagler is a 2003 graduate of the Angelina College Police Academy, and served as a police officer for the Shelbyville ISD until 2008. He says having the opportunity to be the constable for the people of the Shelbyville area will continue the tradition his grand-father, Butch Adams began when he served as Pct. 2 constable for over 20 years.  Hagler said in order to qualify as a “write-in”, he had to submit the proper paperwork by Aug. 20.
