SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a one-vehicle crash early this morning 11-4-18 on SH 147, about three miles south of San Augustine.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2014 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling north on SH 147. The driver was reportedly traveling at an unsafe speed when the vehicle drove off the roadway to the right, overcorrected to the left and crossed back over the roadway to the left and struck a tree.

The driver of the vehicle is identified as 21-year-old Octavian Burrell, from San Augustine. Burrell was pronounced deceased at the scene by a San Augustine County Justice of the Peace.

This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
