Domestic Violence Awareness Event

In the past 90 days, DeSoto Parish Deputies have made numerous arrests involving varying degrees of domestic violence in our area.  These crimes can happen to anyone of any race, age, religion, or gender.  Many years ago the month of October was set aside to bring awareness to domestic violence against men, women, and their children.    Based on what we have experienced in our own Parish it is the desire of both Sheriff Richardson and our Deputies to do our part in bringing awareness to this cause.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office will be hosting an event in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  The event will be held at 205 Franklin Street in Mansfield, LA at 1:00 p.m. and will be open to the public.  We will be conducting a balloon release to honor each victim who has lost their life this year in Louisiana due to domestic violence.

A tree will also be planted to celebrate new life and a new future for those who have survived from domestic violence in the past.  Refreshments, cake, and other snacks will be provided to the public in the front lobby of the Sheriff's Office.  If you or someone you know has been the victim of domestic violence, Sheriff Richardson encourages you to join us at the front entrance of the Sheriff's Office as we honor both our lost and our survivors.
