San Augustine County will be seeing a $3,600 salary increase

Some elected officials in San Augustine County will be seeing a $3,600 salary increase as ordered by the San Augustine County Commissioners' Court. Effective Oct. 1, when the new budget year begins, all four county commissioners, along with the sheriff, will have their salary go up 8.6 percent from its current rate.  The commissioners' and sheriff's salary, which are the same, will see a jump to $41,912 annually, up from $38,312.  The San Augustine County Commissioners had included the salary increase in their new budget proposal.  In an August meeting of the commissioners' court, during the budget process, the San Augustine County justice of the peace were asking for a salary increase, since they had received a five percent increase last year. There was no action taken on the matter.
