San Augustine Native Meritoriously Advanced to U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class

 

 

SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON - Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Deron Davis, (middle) a San Augustine, Texas, native assigned to Navy Recruiting Station Hollywood Park, was meritoriously advanced to the rank of petty officer first class during a promotion ceremony held at Navy Recruiting District San Antonio Headquarters by Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Jeffrey Reynolds.
Davis, a graduate of Chireno High School in Chireno, Texas, joined America's Navy in 2010.
 
“This is beyond my wildest expectations,” said Davis, who became a Navy recruiter in 2016. “My immediate goal was making third class but now the bar has been risen.” The Navy’s Meritorious Advancement Program empowers commanding officers with the authority to recognize sustained superior performance of their Sailors through immediate advancement in rank.
