SHELBY COUNTY – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash on State Highway 7 yesterday morning that reportedly occurred the previous night, about one half mile east of County Road 1211.

 

The preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 10:30 p.m., on September 2, a 2008 Pontiac passenger car was traveling east. For reasons not yet determined by Troopers, the driver drove across the westbound lanes and struck a tree. The crash was not discovered until approximately 8:30 a.m., on September 3.  The driver is identified as 17-year-old Emily Hernandez-Garcia from Center.  Hernandez-Garcia was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Shelby County

Justice of the Peace.
