Speed Limit to be Lowered in Tenaha

LUFKIN – Speed limits in Tenaha, in Shelby County, are scheduled to be lowered following a recommendation from TxDOT and approval by Tenaha City Commissioners.

The speed limit on FM 2695 will be lowered to 45 miles per hour from 55 miles per hour from FM 947 to Loop 157.

A new school zone will also be added with a speed limit set at 25 miles per hour when lights are flashing from a point approximately .038 miles northeast of FM 947 to a point approximately .241 miles north-eastward. When lights are not activated, the speed limit will be 45 miles per hour in either direction.

These new speed limits will be enforceable once signs are set. Motorists should stay alert when traveling through a school zone. It is illegal to use a cell phone in a school zone or text and drive in Texas.
