Wreck Outside of Nacogdoches Traffic Rerouted

 

 

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
investigated a two vehicle crash this morning on US 259, about 8 miles north of
Nacogdoches.
 
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 7:45 a.m., a Mack
truck tractor semi-trailer reportedly exited from a private driveway and was
traveling north on US 259 in the outside lane. A 2006 Freightliner truck tractor
semi-trailer was also traveling north on US 259 and failed to control speed and
struck the trailer being towed by the Mack truck tractor. During the crash the left
fuel tank of the Freightliner was ruptured; causing the Freightliner to catch fire.
The driver of the Mack truck is identified as 56-year-old Harvey Gill from
Nacogdoches.
 
The driver of the Freightliner is identified as 43-year-old Carlton Blueitt from
Houston.
 
No injuries were reported as a result of this crash.
 
At this time northbound traffic is being rerouted to one lane in the southbound
lanes until the scene is cleared. Motorists are urged to use caution while in this
area.
