Shelby County Commissioners' Court Meeting Results

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
The Shelby County Commissioners Court had a meeting on 5-2-18 at 9:30 a.m. at the active Shelby County Courthouse.  They took the following actions:
 
1. The Court approved and paid weekly expenses and the current payroll.

2. They tool public comments on agenda items.  Colleen Doggett with the Shelby County Historical Commission gave information on agenda item 3, stating why the commission would not approve it.  There are no historical plauqes for any indiviuals allowed on the square accept for the builder of the Courthouse itself.  The Courthouse is to be the focus of historical interest.

3. Delbert Jackson discussed a Historical Marker for Lige Daniels and other victims of lynching at the site of the old hanging tree.  His request was not approved.
 
 
 
4. The Court approved the proclamation declaring May as Elder Abuse Prevention Awareness Month, presented by Tracy Belin with the Texas Department of Elder Protective Services and after the regular meeting Judge Allison Harbison signed the proclamation.

5. They appointed two members to represent Shelby County on the DETCOG Board of Directors.  Commissioner Charles Barr and Judge Allison Harbison were choosen. 
 
6. They discussed and accepted a sealed bid on Property ID 20633, located in the a-0010 Jesse Amason SUR BLK 30 TR 25, 1203 Bolton ST City of Center, Shelby County Texas which has been struck off the tax rolls.  They sold the property which was .15 acres of land for $4,000 to LaRonda King. 
 
7. They discussed taking action on repairs to the Bandstand and First Ladies in Texas Building located on the Historic Courtyard.
 
8. The court discussed and approved a Map contract with Liberty Marketing Company for the Shelby County Judge and Commissioners’.
 
9.  They adopted .946 miles of Forest Service Road 107 starting at FM 417 E County Road 2515.
 
10. They created County Road 2516 from 478 feet of Forest Service land from 2517 to boundary line Michael Paul Kay property.
 
11. They adopted 1146 feet of Forest Service Road 143 as part of County Road 2369.
 
12. They discussed and approved Commissioner Pct.1 to get bids for new or used backhoe and or enter into a lease agreement.
 
13. The court adjourned to their executive session.
 
 
EXECUTIVE SESSION
 
14.An Executive Session will also be held for the purpose of discussing personnel, hearing complaints against personnel, or to deliberate the appointed, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee. The closed session is authorized by Texas Open Meeting Act, Texas Government Code Section 551.074.
 
15. They reopened the public meeting.
 
16.They discussed and tabled hiring a Security Officer for the Shelby County Courthouse.
 
17.The Court adjourned.
