Wreck on HWY 7 - UPDATED

 
 
At approximately 11:45a.m.on Friday March 23rd, 2018 the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 7 and FM 711 in Shelby County.  The crash occurred approximately five (5) miles West of Center, Texas.
 
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2008 Dodge pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with equipment was traveling eastbound on Highway 7 followed by a 1993 Dodge pickup truck.  As the Dodge towing the trailer slowed to turn onto FM 711, it was rear-ended by the 1993 Dodge truck.
 
The driver of the 1993 Dodge, 30-year-old Nicholas Brewer of Nacogdoches, and his passenger, Victoria Santos, 27, of Lufkin, were both flown by medical helicopter to LSU hospital.
 
The driver and passenger of the 2008 Dodge were not injured.
 
All eastbound traffic lanes of Highway 7 were closed for approximately one hour, but have since reopened.
 
This crash remains under investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash.
 
At this time, there are no additional information to be released.
