Lethal Force Used While Responding to a Call

 

UPDATE:
 
On March 6, deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a report of a hostage situation on County Road 2798 in Shelbyville.
 
The preliminary investigation indicates SCSO deputies responded to the residence of the reported hostage situation at approximately 10:04 p.m.
 
A male suspect reportedly exited the residence displaying a firearm and was shot by law enforcement after the suspect refused to comply with verbal commands to drop the weapon.
The suspect, Louis Troy Risinger, 70, was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Shelby County Justice of the Peace.
 
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Texas Rangers were notified and are assisting with the investigation.  This incident remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.

According to District Attorney Steven Shires that during a resent call response a Shelby County Sheriff's department officer used lethal force that resulted in the death of a Shelby County resident.  More to follow as it is officially released.
