Update:
Loop 500 in Shelby County is now open to traffic following an earlier HazMat spill. All lanes have been cleared and are open. Drive safely.
Update From TxDOT 1:33 p.m. 2-28-18:
There was a spill that occurred early this morning 2-28-18 on SL 500 and also at the intersection of US 96. A tanker hauling salt water/mud leaked from the tank . A hazmat crew is still on the scene removing the debris and the loop from SH 7 to US 96 remains closed. The cleanup is expected to be completed by later this afternoon 2-28-18.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Center Police Deparment there was a 18 Wheeler that had a spill on 96 and Loop 500 and 7 East. The Loop is closed between 96 and 7 East. 699 was reported to still be open.
