SHELBY COUNTY, TX – At approximately 3:50 p.m. on January 8th, 2018, the Texas Department of

Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two vehicle crash on SH 87 involving a Shelbyville ISD school bus.

 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2014 International school bus was stopped facing north on SH 87 with red lights activated and unloading students.  A 2009 Pontiac passenger car traveling south on SH 87 reportedly crested a hill and attempted to stop but slid into the northbound lane and struck the front of the bus.  The driver of the bus is identified as Marla Denby, 54, from Shelbyville.

 

The driver of the Pontiac is identified as Matthew Gamble, 16, also from Shelbyville.  A passenger with Gamble was transported to a Center hospital for possible treatment.
