Interstate 20 Shooting

The Shreveport Police Department has identified the officers involved in Saturday's shooting of a fleeing suspect on Interstate 20. According to Shreveport Police Department, it was Officer Jennifer Monereau attempted to stop a tan-colored Lincoln Town Car just before 4 a.m. on Saturday. Police say the driver of that Town Car, identified as 22-year-old Deeric Bailey, refused to stop and attempted to elude authorities. During a brief pursuit, police say Bailey struck the vehicle of an unsuspecting motorist and continued westbound on I20 just west of the Linwood Avenue exit ramp, where he lost control and hit a concrete barrier. According to a statement released by SPD, Bailey refused to comply and then attempted to flee again in his car. Police say Officer Hai Phan then fired multiple shots at Bailey. Bailey was pronounced dead at LSU Health. Both Phan and Monereau have been placed on paid administrative leave and an investigation is still ongoing.
