SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

Troopers investigated Saturday a head-on two vehicle fatality crash on US 96

about four miles north of San Augustine.

 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 6:50 p.m., a 2008

Toyota passenger car was traveling north on US 96 in the southbound lane when

the vehicle crested a hill and struck a southbound 2007 Dodge truck.

The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene and identified as

Anita Reed, 53, from San Augustine.

 

The driver of the Dodge is identified as Manuel Garcia, 40, from Stowell, TX.

Garcia was transported from the scene to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in San

Augustine for treatment.

 

This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at

this time.
