Two new cases of the West Nile Virus have hit the ArkLaTex

Two new cases of the West Nile Virus have hit the ArkLaTex, with one in Bossier Parish and the other in Caddo Parish. Health Officials are warning residents to stay clear of mosquitoes in order to avoid the potentially dangerous disease.  The confirmed case of West Nile in Caddo Parish involves a 48-year-old woman from Desoto Parish. Symptoms of the West Nile Fever are similar to a cold and can include fever, headache, and tiredness. The symptoms of the more invasive form of the disease include neck stiffness, tremors, and even a coma.  You can limit your chances of catching the virus by avoiding mosquitoes. Officials suggest not wearing perfumes or colognes, and limiting your time outside in the evenings.  There have been a total of three West Nile Cases between Caddo and Bossier Parishes this summer.
