TxDOT Update

LUFKIN – TxDOT has begun studying possible changes to a south Angelina County intersection where recent crashes have occurred.

The intersection under review is located on US 69 South at FM 326. In the wake of recent crashes, a traffic study and review is underway to determine possible changes.

“We have seen several accidents recently at that location,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the Lufkin District. “Whenever we see this occur it is concerning. Our engineers are currently discussing the best options for possible changes that could enhance the safety of that intersection. We welcome public comments and input on this as the process begins.”

Rumble strips will be placed in the roadway on US 69 to help alert traffic to the approaching intersection of FM 326 and motorists on FM 326 will also be alerted to the upcoming stop sign at US 69. Motorists should reduce speed in the area and stay alert to oncoming cars.
