Deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office arrested Vernon Jacob Hopson, 21, on Tuesday. Hopson was accused of punching his pregnant girlfriend while she was driving with their son in the vehicle early Sunday. According to the report, Hopson was a passenger in the vehicle and was intoxicated. Upon arriving to their residence, an argument ensued and according to the report, Hopson assaulted her more by slamming her head into the gravel. Hopson is charged with second-degree aggravated assault family violence, state-jail felony child endangerment and misdemeanor A deadly conduct.
