Community Spotlight of the Week (7/30)

It’s now time for the Center Broadcasting Community Spotlight of the week. This Week’s Community Spotlight will be shedding light on a special team that is working hard to take a bite of crime. From the Center Police Department, we would like to highlight Sergeant Scott Burkhalter and his partner Zitan. Sergeant Burkhalter began his law enforcement career in 2005 with the Shelby County Sheriffs Department. Sergeant Burkhalter later transferred to the Center Police Department where he eventually became the Officer in charge of the Canine Unit. Sergeant Burhalter and Zitan have been partners for three years. Zitan is a five year-old full blooded German Shepherd that has received extensive Narcotic Detection Training in Germany before coming to Shelby County. This dynamic duo is also members of the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association. As it stands now, Sergeant Burkhalter and Zitan is the only K-9 unit in both Shelby and San Augustine Counties, so the two are often called upon to come and assist other departments. We want to thank Sergeant Burkhalter and Zitan for all of their hard work. Be sure to check out their Spotlight photo on Center Broadcasting's Website cbc-radio.com under the community tab.
