U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration announced more than 90 arrests

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration announced more than 90 arrests from all over the country in the first- ever nationwide crackdown on bath salts and other synthetic designer drugs.  Nearly five million packets of synthetic drugs which are typically marketed as bath salts or herbs were confiscated by the DEA during the nationwide sting called Operation Log Jam.  Shreveport and Bossier City were on the list of cities the DEA targeted.  Bath Salts are being treated as controlled substances since they are proven to be chemically and or pharmacologically similar to a schedule 1 or schedule II controlled substances.

The drugs are said to mimic the effects of cocaine, LSD or meth.
