Fun for Funds

Let the bidding begin - Fun for Funds benefit auction is Tuesday, March 28th from 6pm until 9pm!
The auction will be view-able online via a live webcast at! Those wanting to bid can log onto to register and participate in the live auction. Early bidding opens Friday, March 24th. The event will also be broadcast live on television via Suddenlink Cable Channel 2.
Be sure to take a look at this years auction items. The RIO Theatre made a request with 21st Century Fox for an auction item and they did not disappoint. Mike and Nita Adkison, owners, were pleased to present to the club a large basket stuffed full of various movie promo items including a mysterious black box with 'The Wolverine' on it, a jacket with 'Independence Day Resurgence', and many other items. Additional items are a table and bench set from Back Country Furniture Designs, a 5-piece patio dining set from Gibsons Energy, a kids dream come true 'Fire Truck Ride to School', and so much more. Items are being added daily.
Funds from the auction benefit the Catherine Pinkston Roughrider Scholarship Fund. Over the years, if you have ever participated in the Fun for Funds event, you have helped Rotary to raise over $1,000,000 for the Roughrider Scholarship Foundation (RSF). RSF has presented over 1,600 scholarships totaling over $1,000,000 to graduating CHS students and is funded by donations, not just from Rotary, but from the community. It has provided Center ISD students with a resource very few school systems have.
It's not to late to donate an item for the auction - Rotary is seeking items to auction which will bring the highest possible dollar amount. If you do not have a unique item to auction, any and all monetary donations are greatly appreciated and will benefit the same fund. During the auction, monetary donations can be made in honor or memory of someone and the donation will be announced during the broadcast as well as online.
If you have any questions about Fun for Funds or would like to make an auction item or monetary donation, please feel free to contact the Rotary Club at or call Jason Balkcom, Rotary Club President, at 936.598.3311.
