Panola Baseball Update

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Panola College baseball program moves up this week in
the national rankings to #12.  Rising four spots from the last week's
rankings at #16, The Ponies went 3-1 last week and improved to 24-5 on the
season and 6-3 in conference.  The Ponies will be at home Thursday, March
23rd for game one of a three game conference series with Paris Junior
College.

*Panola College Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Vs Northlake College*
 
 
Panola College and Northlake College played a taut affair, but Panola
eventually prevailed 12-9 after taking the lead for good in the tenth
inning.  The game was tied at nine with Panola College batting in the top
of the tenth when there was an error, scoring two runs.
 
 
Panola evened things up at nine in the top of the ninth inning. Panola
scored two runs when *Austin Blakeley* homered with two outs in the ninth
inning.
 
 
Panola scored five runs in the fourth inning. Panola’s big inning was
driven by a stolen base by* Logan Bailey*, a single by *Julian Flores*, a
single by De Leon, and a stolen base.
 
 
*Austin De Leon* collected five hits in five at bats to help lead Panola
to victory. De Leon singled in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in
the sixth, singled in the eighth, and singled in the tenth.
 
 
*Gannon Reiswig* earned the win for Panola. He pitched two innings,
allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
 
 
*Cole Clinton* started the game for Panola. He tossed one inning,
surrendering three runs, three hits, and walking one.
 
 
Panola had 13 hits in the game. De Leon and *Chandler Morris* each
collected multiple hits for Panola. *Colton Oberthier*, Blakeley, and De
Leon each drove in two runs to lead Panola.
 
 
 
 
 
 
*Panola College Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Northeast Texas
In Game One*
 
 
Panola College fought back after falling down by six runs in the fifth
inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 6-4 defeat to Northeast
Texas on Thursday. Panola scored four runs in the failed comeback on a
double by *Andrew Pace*, a single by *Chandler Morris*, a groundout by *Austin
De Leon*, and a single by *Julian Flores*.
 
 
Panola fell behind early in the loss. Northeast Texas took the lead on a
walk in the first inning.
 
 
*Cayne Ueckert* took the loss for Panola. He went four and a third
innings, allowing six runs, five hits, and striking out four.
 
 
Panola had ten hits in the game. *Duke Ellis*, Flores, and Pace each
collected multiple hits for Panola. De Leon, Pace, Flores, and Morris each
drove in one run to lead Panola.
 
 
 
 
*Panola College Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Northeast
Texas In Game Two*
 
 
Panola College defeated Northeast Texas 4-3 on Saturday after taking the
lead late in the game. The game was tied at three with Panola batting in
the bottom of the sixth when there was an error, scoring one run.
 
 
Panola took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first
inning *Christian Boulware* drove in one run when he singled.
 
 
*Miles Dunn* earned the win for Panola. He tossed one-third of an inning,
giving up zero runs, two hits, and walking zero. *Erik Key* recorded the
last three outs to earn the save for Panola.
 
 
*Logan Bailey* started the game for Panola. He went five and two-thirds
innings, allowing three runs, three hits, striking out 11, and walking one.
 
 
Panola had ten hits in the game. *Duke Ellis*, *Colby Price*, and *Michael
Lawson* each collected multiple hits for Panola. Lawson, Andrew Pace, and
Boulware each drove in one run to lead Panola.
 
 
 
 
 
*Panola College Best Northeast Texas In Blowout For Game Three*
 
 
Panola College took the lead late in the game in a 14-6 victory over
Northeast Texas on Saturday. Panola trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth
inning when *Logan Bailey* homered, driving in two runs.
 
 
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Panola collected 16 hits and
Northeast Texas seven
 
Panola College captured the lead in the first inning. *Logan Berlof*
drove in one when he doubled in the first inning.
 
 
Panola scored five runs in the seventh inning. Panola scored on a single,
a single by Logan Bailey, and a single by *Andrew Pace*.
 
 
Northeast scored three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for
Northeast Texas came thanks to a fielder's choice by Simms, a single by
Batten, and a single by Bundy.
 
 
*Gannon Reiswig* earned the win for Panola. He pitched three and a third
innings, giving up two runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
 
 
*Taylor Tomlin* started the game for Panola. He threw three and
two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs, five hits, striking out one,
and walking one.
 
 
Home runs for Panola came when *Julian Flores* homered in the sixth
inning and Bailey homered in the sixth inning.
 
 
Berlof, *Duke Ellis*, Bailey, *Colby Price*, and Pace each collected
multiple hits for Panola. Berlof went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Panola.
