Panola men survive at Bossier Parish, 101-98

 

Bossier City, Louisiana – The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated
Bossier Parish Community College here Wednesday night, 101-98. With the
win, the Ponies raise their record to 22-7 and 14-4 in Region XIV play.
The victory pushes their win streak to nine games. “We had some moments in
the first half where we really clicked.” Head Coach Grant McMillan
mentioned. “Bossier kept fighting and we responded throughout the game.” He
added.
 
 
Panola took command from the jump and held a lead the entire first half.
The Ponies had a 21 point lead with just under nine minutes remaining and
found themselves ahead, 51-41 at halftime. Panola maintained their
double-digit lead the second half before Bossier mounted a run. With 4:04
remaining Panola held an 88-86 lead when Eric McGill netted a three pointer
to give them a five point lead. As the game wound down, Bossier had a
chance to tie the ball game on two free throws with 4.2 seconds remaining.
Bossier netted one free throw and fouled Marlon Taylor with 2.7 seconds
left. Taylor made both free throws to seal the victory.
 
 
Six separate Ponies scored in double figures and were led by Eric McGill
with 26. McGill netted five, three pointers and dished out nine assists. Tj
Killings and Marlon Taylor came off the bench and combined for 30 points.
Tope Arikawe added 14 points. Meanwhile, Keith Hayes and Devyn Wilson
scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. Panola assisted on 31 of their 35
makes on the night and shot 45 percent from the three point line.
 
 
Panola ends their regular season on sophomore night this upcoming Saturday,
March 4th as they host Paris Junior College. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM on
the campus of Panola College.
