Man Shoots at Cop

 

Montgomery County, TX-On 09/14/2016, Derrie Derwin Scott (54), was taken into
custody in Willis, Texas for Attempted Capital Murder by United States Deputy
Marshals, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Willis PD, DPS, and the
Texas Rangers. An arrest warrant had been issued for Scott in Polk County
following an investigation into a 08/23/2016, early morning traffic stop and
subsequent shooting. A Corrigan Police Officer conducted the traffic stop on a
Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the occupant of the Jeep exited the vehicle and
discharged a handgun multiple times in the direction of the officer. The officer
sustained no injury from the exchange of gunfire. The shooter fled in the Jeep. The
Jeep Grand Cherokee believed to have been used by Scott during the shooting was
recovered on 09/15/2016, in Trinity County by Texas Rangers and the Trinity
County Sheriff’s Office. This is an ongoing investigation. No additional
information is available at this time.
