Notice is hereby given that a Special meeting of the governing body of the above named City will be held on the 22nd day of August 2016 at 5:30 pm. at the City Hall, 456 Jacob Street, Timpson, Texas, at which time the following subjects will be considered, to-wit:
1. Discuss and take action: The Council will discuss sending a 60 day written
notice to McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen P.C. (MVBA) to terminate the
contract to collect past due fines and fees for the Municipal Court. During the
February 16th Council meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Wolfe and Councilmembers
Grace and Baker voted to hire MVBA over the firm of Linebarger & Goggan to
collect the past due accounts of the Court. To date, MVBA has made no significant
effort to begin the collection process and has shown very little interest in the
City’s collection needs. To our knowledge no case files have been transferred for
collection.
2. Discuss and take action: The Council will discuss to amend the previous
Ordinance to hire Linbarger & Goggan to collect fines and fees of the Municipal
Court.
3. Discuss and take action: The Council will discuss entering into a contract
to immediately start Municipal Court collections with Linbarger & Goggan.
The Council reserves the right to retire into executive session concerning any of the items listed on this agenda whenever it is considered necessary and is legally justified under the Open Meetings Act.
This facility is wheelchair accessible and wheelchair parking is available. Requests for accommodations or interpretive services must be made 48 hours prior to this meeting. Please contact the City Secretary at 254-2421 for further information or needed assistance.
