The Shelby County Commissioners' Court Rundown

The Shelby County Commissioners’ Court met in secession today August 8, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.  They approved the following: to pay monthly expenses, officers’ reports, along with several budget proposals.  One of which was suggested by County Treasurer Ann Blackwell to transfer funds from a money market to a Certificate of Deposit with Farmers State Bank because it is a very safe investment and offer a high interest rate earning over $11,000 a year as opposed to the current interest rate of $4,200.  The Commissioners’ Court also approved the motion to apply for a grant with the National Incident-Based Reporting System through the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor’s office.  The motion to authorize the procurement of engineering and administrative services for the County’s 2017-2018 TxCDBG Community Development Fund grant application was passed.  Mr. Lewis McGinty informed the public about the Veteran Soldiers’ cemetery in Keithville.  Lastly Debora Riley submitted the report of collections for the 2015 and the calculation of effective and rollback tax rates, and a Budget Hering was set for Aug 22, 2016.
