2016 What-A-Melon Festival Schedule of Events

 

 
Wednesday, July 6th
The Shelby County Ministers' Fellowship has organized a night of fellowship and praise with gospel music on the stage starting at 6pm until the festival closes at 10pm. Performances to enjoy are Jeff and Norine Spring; Christina Smith; Bro. Alvin Davis and Open Door Church; Rev. Robert Gipson and Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church; Rev. Karen Jones and First United Methodist Church; Leigh Porterfield; Patti Pustka and First Baptist Church; and Bishop W.C. Martin and Bennett Chapel Church.

Friday, July 8th

Saturday, July 9th
Carla Lynn Penney, of Vienna, Georgia, was crowned the 2016 National Watermelon Queen during the annual National Watermelon convention in New Orleans, Louisiana in February. Carla will represent the National Watermelon Association at the 2016 Shelby County What-A-Melon Festival.  She will be attending all of the Saturday events, beginning with the What-A-Melon Crawl 5K! Her trip to the East Texas What-A-Melon Festival is sponsored by Wiggins Farms.

Arm bands will be available for each night of the festival for the rides and are $20 for 5:30pm to 10:30pm. Admission buttons are good for entry to the festival all four days. Adult buttons are $5 each. Children five and under get in free. Thanks you for your help publicizing the What-A-Melon Festival. The festival is run by the Center Rotary Club and funds raised are donated back to the community during the year.
